2020’s Biggest Interior Trends for Landlords

5th Jan 2020

Category: Property advice

How can landlords incorporate 2020’s biggest interior trends into their rental properties? Trends come and go, and it can be tempting for landlords to ignore them. However, incorporating the most current trends can be a real selling point, help attract quality tenants and up the rental amount you can achieve.

Black Hardware

Last year’s metallic hardware trend has been replaced by more understated matt black finishing touches. A quick and simple change of handles in a kitchen or bathroom will instantly see you into this new trend.

Black Hardware Bathroom

Marble certainly isn’t a new trend, but it’s one that’s sticking around. While you might not want to invest in marble counter tops, there are plenty of faux alternatives you can try. If your kitchen is looking tired and you’re not sure which direction to go in, try out a good quality laminate adhesive to see how you get on.

Statement Rugs

Adding a statement rug is a quick and easy update. Bold geometric patterns are popular in living spaces right now, or try statement block colours in bedrooms.

This sumptuous fabric doesn’t seem an obvious choice for landlords, but it’s a surprisingly durable fabric. It’s got a durable pile that works well in rented homes and is also unlikely to snag as it doesn’t have any raised weave or loose threads. It’s pretty easy to clean, just instruct your tenants to use the handheld nozzle on the vacuum cleaner, and make sure you steam it between tenancies.

Word Art

What’s being said is not of such importance as opposed to how it’s presented. Bold, modern typography in bright colours is a great choice for student houses, while calligraphy lettering alongside corresponding imagery works well in any residential home.
